Peripartum Cardiomyopathy
General Meeting Information
The management of heart failure in pregnancy requires a multi-disciplinary approach. This session will be an overview of the recent advances in our understanding of heart failure in the peripartum period.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this educational activity, the learner will be able to:
1. Discuss challenges and recent updates in the diagnosis of heart failure in the peripartum period including heart failure with reduced and preserved ejection fraction.
2. Highlight racial disparities in maternal heart failure and mitigate maternal mortality.
3. Provide a multi-disciplinary discussion of the management of heart failure in pregnancy.
4. Explain the risk of subsequent pregnancies.
