The Descent and Size Changes
Bored on a riverbank, Alice spots the White Rabbit and tumbles down a rabbit hole into "Wonderland". She drinks a mysterious potion and eats a cake that cause her size to fluctuate wildly—shrinking to three inches or growing as tall as a house. She meets bizarre inhabitants like a hookah-smoking Caterpillar and a Duchess with a baby that turns into a pig.
The Mad Tea Party and the Croquet Game
Alice encounters the ever-smiling Cheshire Cat, who directs her to the March Hare and the Mad Hatter. She attends a delightfully nonsensical, eternal tea party where time is frozen. Later, she makes it into the Queen of Hearts' royal garden, where the monarch forces her subjects to play a chaotic, rigged game of croquet using living flamingos as mallets and hedgehogs as balls.
The Trial and the Waking Reality
The story culminates in a ridiculous courtroom trial to determine if the Knave of Hearts stole the Queen's tarts. As the trial devolves into shouting and the Queen orders Alice's execution, Alice outgrows her fear and her tiny stature. Growing to a giant size, she knocks over the jurors and the playing card guards. Overwhelmed, the cards attack, causing Alice to suddenly wake up on the riverbank, realizing her entire adventure was just a dream
