The Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) hosted a virtual program of education and support for heart failure patients and caregivers on December 5, 2020. The program gave patients and caregivers the opportunity to participate in interactive educational sessions with leading experts in the field. 

Kathleen Faulkenberg, PharmD, BCPS, FHFSA, chair of the HFSA Patient Committee served as the chair of the event and moderated the live Q&A panels with heart failure experts.  Dr. Faulkenberg worked with the HFSA Patient Committee to plan the event.  HFSA President Nancy Albert, RN, PhD, FHFSA provided opening remarks and led a breakout session.  Several HFSA Patient Committee members and HFSA leaders participated as presenters and led breakout sessions, as did HFSA patient members.

Heart Failure Patients, Family Members, and Caregivers

1. Provide easy-to-understand and engaging patient education on all aspects of heart failure treatment and management.
2. Help patients and caregivers understand heart failure and empower them to discuss management and treatment options with their healthcare provider.
3. Encourage patients to utilize resources available to them in their community that offer support and encouragement in the management of heart failure.
