Cardio-oncology
General Meeting Information
This session provides a clinical practice update regarding the pathophysiology, diagnosis, management and advanced therapy considerations for cardio-oncology. This session will review the risk factors, cancer therapies that promote cardiomyopathy, and management factors associated with cardio-oncology.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this educational activity, the learner will be able to:
1. Recognize the shared risk factors between cancer and heart failure.
2. Assess the cardiac risks of the newer cancer therapies (including targeted therapies, immunotherapies, CAR-T cell therapies).
3. Recommend early detection methods for heart failure related to cancer therapies using novel diagnostic modalities and their clinical application.
4. Review outcomes and management of heart failure related to cancer therapies including advanced heart failure therapies.
